Hepburn Shire Council’s 2020/2021 rates notices are hitting letterboxes across the Shire, with new information contained to help explain the rates notice and a chance for ratepayers to win an iPad.
Acknowledging the current COVID-19 pandemic, Council will provide all ratepayers with a 2-month extension on the due date for the first rates instalment, now due November 30 2020. There will also be no interest charged on outstanding rates balances for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 financial year.
This applies to all property types, for payments made before January 30 2021.
Hepburn Shire Council CEO Evan King said Council appreciated there would be households who, due to the pandemic, may need to talk to Council about their rates payments.
“Our staff are happy to talk to you about your circumstances and walk you through your options,” Mr King said.
“I’d also like to remind the community our customer service points are currently closed so please use either electronic banking or if you want to pay in person visit your post office.”
Mr King added that council are running a competition to encourage ratepayers to sign up to have their rates notices delivered electronically.
“We are giving away two iPads to two lucky ratepayers who register to receive their rates notices via email from now on, “ he said.
“Just visit www.hepburn.vic.gov.au/email-my-rates/ to sign up -it only takes a minute and you will be helping reduce our paper usage and out postage costs.”
Mr King also encouraged interested ratepayers to visit Council’s website For more information about how the rates system works.
