Hepburn Shire Council has begun consultation on the draft designs for the Trentham Community Hub.

The Trentham Community Hub will be located at 66 High Street the site of the Mechanics Institute, which is the site preferred by the majority of the community in the 2018 postal vote on the project. The new facility will incorporate and refurbish the original parts of the Mechanics Institute building. The scope includes Council customer service, library, visitor information, community meeting rooms, and the existing hall.

A survey is being used to gain community input and feedback on the draft concept design for the Trentham Community Hub.

Mayor, Cr Licia Kokocinski, said this is an exciting milestone for the project and community.

“I know the importance of the Trentham Community Hub to the Trentham and broader Coliban Ward community.  In my many conversations with community members, a key priority has been the Trentham Community Hub, and people have been very interested to know how they can have input into the project.  Now we have draft designs to view and a comprehensive survey, and the community will have four weeks to submit feedback,” said Cr Kokocinski.

A Project Advisory Group (PAG) was formed at the beginning of this design stage. The PAG is made up of diverse community members, who have been working closely with the project team to ensure the design reflects the community need and vision. Community input on previous designs has also been analysed and incorporated.

Council has committed $800,000 to the project and will seek the required external funding for construction when designs are complete.

Consultation will be open for all of August 2020.
