Rejuvenation of the Ballarat Bridge Mall has entered a key design stage that is now open for public feedback.
The project is a key element of the Bakery Hill Urban Renewal Plan, a $15 million commitment by Council to re-position the entire Bakery Hill precinct as a well-connected destination.
Design firm, Hassell has the task of assisting the community to re-imagine the Bridge Mall as a meeting place for community and visitors alike, whilst creating a thriving economy in the Bridge Mall Precinct.
The vision for the renewal of the Bridge Mall is based on two extensive rounds of public consultation that revealed a strong desire for change in the Bridge Mall and has brought the project to this point.
One of the key challenges of those findings is getting the balance right for the re-introduction of traffic into the Bridge Mall. Each key intersection around the Mall has been examined to gauge the influence of traffic on people’s movement throughout the space.
Head to the City of Ballarat’s mySay page to view the one-way eastbound, one-way west bound and two-way traffic movement considerations and record your feedback by 20 August.
This is one of the first steps in a suite of initiatives to be delivered as part of the Bridge Mall rejuvenation.
