The City of Ballarat welcomes the Victorian Government’s recent announcement of the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Mayor Cr Ben Taylor thanked Ballarat residents for their hard work in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and creating a low level of community transmission of the virus.

However, Cr Taylor said, at the same time, it is even more important the Ballarat community protects themselves and others by:

Staying home when unwell – if you have symptoms, get tested
Washing your hands – and coughing and sneezing into your elbow
Keeping your distance – 1.5 metres away from anyone you don’t live with
If you can work from home, you should work from home.
“We understand the community is eager to see the doors to our facilities, services and assets re-open,” Cr Taylor said.

“We have been planning to re-open our facilities, services and assets since the day they closed. We are working through the details of re-opening these and how we will do this in a safe way for our community and staff.”

Cr Taylor said he encouraged the community to check the ballarat.vic.gov.au website at 5pm each day for the latest updates and information.

“Safety will be our number one priority as we start to reopen our facilities, services and assets.

“The City of Ballarat will conduct safety inspections and undertake regular cleaning of all equipment and high touch surfaces. The community is also advised to clean any equipment they touch before and after use, in addition to other hygiene measures like washing hands or using hand sanitiser.”
