COVID-19 Response: Testing Site established in Ballarat

Ballarat has been selected to host a temporary COVID-19 Testing Facility to take pressure off the region’s existing health services.

The City of Ballarat is partnering with UFS Medical to facilitate the new COVID-19 testing site at the Lucas Community Hub.

The temporary testing facility at Ballarat will open on Tuesday, 14 April and will operate from Monday to Friday 8.30-am-5.00pm.

The Lucas testing site will not be a walk-up facility. Appointments must be made and referrals can be made by GPs, hospitals, the COVID-19 hotline 03 43 11 15 71 or people can call to self-refer to the clinic for testing.

It’s important to note that testing is only available to people who meet the Commonwealth Government’s current criteria for testing which is listed and regularly updated on  www.health.gov.au

Council’s Lucas Community Hub site was selected because of its accessibility, parking, individual clinic rooms suitable for testing and adequate space to allow appropriate spatial distancing.

All City of Ballarat Child and Maternal Health Services have ceased at the Lucas Community Hub and the Lucas Kindergarten relocated
