Herman Bogers Charity Clash Raises Funds for Victims of Bushfire

The Herman Bogers Cup charity game was held on February 11, 2020, at Morshead Park, with proceeds from this year’s fundraiser earmarked for bushfire victims.

Herman is the Chairman of the Ballarat and District Soccer Association and is synonymous with the sport in Ballarat.

Each year the Ballarat & District Soccer Association pick a team to play against Ballarat’s National Premier League team, Ballarat City Football Club, in the Herman Bogers Cup.

This year over 400 people attended the clash and evening festivities, including an auction, and raised an impressive $3156, which was donated to the Victoria Bushfire Fund, which has been run as a collaboration of the Bendigo Bank and the Salvation Army.

On a national level the appeal has raised over $30M.

Ballarat City Football Club Chairman David Sproules said, “This is an amazing testament to our Australian culture, showing the real power of people supporting other people. Soccer/ Football, along with our other great sporting codes, have been doing what they can in an effort to contribute to these great causes.”
