Hepburn Shire Council Awards

Council hosted a citizenship ceremony and civic event on Australia Day eve.

Australia Day Award recipients for 2020:

  • Community Event of the Year – Clunes Ceramic Awards

This is a biennial event that attracts entries from all over Australia. There were 129 entries in 2019. It attracts over 2000 visitors, interstate and international.

  • Young Citizen of the Year – Lachlan Wrigley

Lachlan continues to contribute to the Clunes Football Netball Club, from the age of 14 he was a team player then he progressed to coaching roles, senior football captain rolls and a community leader. Last year Lachlan undertook the role of Auskick mentor.

  • Citizen of the Year – David Hall

David was closely involved in the development of the U3A which now boasts a large number of memberships. U3A successfully nominated David as a Victorian Senior Citizen of the year in 2018.

David was on the ARC Committee and assisted with raising funds for the construction of the ARC Recreation Centre which provides young people with physical and cultural opportunities.

David was an advocate for permanent residencies at the Daylesford Caravan Park, he also chairs a team to expand the stock of affordable homes within the Hepburn Shire for those who are disadvantaged.

David has worked on the steering committee who raised funds over 5 years to establish the Daylesford Community Bank which benefits the community by providing funds to a range of projects.

Together with his wife, David founded The Words in Winter Celebrations, coordinating and organising the event during the first seven years, it is now in its nineteenth year.
