SOVEREIGN HILL COSTUME DEPARTMENT DURING MELBOURNE FASHION WEEK

As part of Melbourne Fashion Week, Sovereign Hill have partnered with Holmesglen Fashion to provide an exclusive insight to the process of accurately replicating 19th century military uniforms – specifically those of the 40th Regiment of Foot in the 1850s.

Known for their skills in garment construction and research techniques, the team will talk through the painstaking process of creating these garments by hand and share how forensic research and analysis is essential to this delicate artform.

The three skilfully executed uniforms (Soldier, Drummer & Officer) will be able to be viewed on the night, before being housed within Sovereign Hill’s Gold Museum Collection for future research and education.
