The McDonalds Ballarat Football Netball League are pleased to once again host the women in football luncheon for 2019.
The lunch provides a positive platform to highlight and recognise the important role that women play in country football and netball leagues and clubs throughout the region.
AFL Goldfields Commercial Operations Manager Simon Dwyer is looking forward to what looks to be another great day on the BFNL calendar.
“The objective of the luncheon is to raise awareness of the pivotal role women play in our game at all levels and to help them gain the recognition they deserve,” Dwyer said.
“We also want to inspire and encourage others who are following in their footsteps.”
This year the league is ecstatic to reveal they have three quality guest speakers of woman who are at the top of their game as well as a special guest AFLW player who is yet to be announced.
AFL’s First Female Central Umpire Eleni Glouftsis will be joined by leading sports broadcaster Tiffany Cherry and AFL Youtuber Amberly Lobo.
Glouftsis created history this year when she became the first woman to officiate an AFL/VFL game as a central umpire when she was selected to officiate the Essendon versus West Coast match.
Cherry is one of Australia’s most well-known female sports broadcasters. She is real trailblazer in the AFL world as she was one of the first employed by Fox Footy back in 2001.

Lobo is a newcomer to AFL, hosting the AFL Kids Youtube Channel and Footy Lyfe program which brings unique access to players with crazy antics and skits.
The league is looking forward to hosting the event at the Ballarat Leagues Club on July 19th, and hope that all clubs, board members, commercial partners and club volunteers get behind celebrating the role women play in sport.
There will be a raffle on the day as well as an auction of several memorabilia items.
Tickets are $75 and includes a three-course lunch. Champagne, wine, beer and soft drink will be supplied during lunch.
All funds raised from the day (via Raffle & Auctions) will be donated to the BRICC Wellness Centre.
