Families in the growing suburb of Lucas are a step closer to accessing the education they deserve with the start of a recruitment process to select a principal for the new school.
Labor MPs Jaala Pulford and Juliana Addison have announced the commencement of the recruitment drive to appoint a principal to the new school, which will open in 2020.
The Department of Education and Training has advertised for educators across the state to apply to lead the new school.
Ms Pulford said the new school at Lucas is part of the Labor Government’s commitment to Ballarat’s growth areas.
“This is another major milestone for families in Lucas as part of a school building boom that will see 100 new government schools open across Victoria over the next eight years,” Ms Pulford said.
Ms Addison said the Labor Government is ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.
“We’ve now begun the recruitment process to select an experienced and passionate principal to lead this great new school and ensure that local kids have access to a great education,” Ms Addison said.
The Labor Government has invested more than $3.8 billion to deliver new schools and more than 1,300 school upgrades, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
Members of the public have been asked to submit names for the new Lucas school, with a decision expected later this year.
