The City of Ballarat is looking for artists, creatives, graphic designers or school students to play a part in the 2019 Ballarat Winter Festival.

Supporting the Creative City Strategy, the City of Ballarat it looking for several artists to contribute to an augmented reality (AR) art walk which will feature as a major highlight of this year’s festival.

Augmented reality is an interactive experience that sees technology used to superimpose images, text and sometimes sounds on objects that reside in the real world.

This will be the first time the City of Ballarat has explored the use of augmented reality during one of its events.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) is now open, calling for ideas from local artists to be included in the new ‘Hidden Stories’ art walk.

Artists are being encouraged to look at the stories beneath the surface of our city, and of the people that have lived and loved, and continue to make the tales of our town.

There are spaces for several artists to take part, and each artist will be encouraged to produce at least one artwork.

The successful artists will be invited to participate in education and training, assisting them in learning how to animate their works through an augmented reality app.
