Well, what a great weekend for North Ballarat, who have overcome the premiership favourites Mt Clear.
Having won the toss and batting, North Ballarat put on a meagre 135 from just 65 overs. In reply, though, Mt Clear collapsed terribly to be all out for just 99! Ash McAfferty the destroyer for North Ballarat with 5 for 25 from 20 overs, in a match winning effort to save his team and get them through to the Grand Final.
They will be playing East Ballarat, who were far too strong for Golden Point. Golden Point batting first, could only manage 125 from 67 overs. In reply, East scored the runs from just 40 overs, veteran, Carl Hasseloff scored 31 and Harry Ganley 35 for the victors. When the two grand finalists last met, East was too strong for North, but we’ll see who wins the toss, which may have an impact on the end result.
In the 2s, Dunnstown chased down Darley’s 193, with just one wicket to spare. Ballan lost to Golden Point, who were well lead by spearhead, Matt Swards who took 6 wickets in an inspired spell of bowling. In the qualifying final, Mt Clear was too strong for East Ballarat. Both sides go through to next week – the fixture to be announced.
