Nominations are now open for the 2019 Ballarat Heritage and Design Excellence Awards.
This year, in celebration of their 10th anniversary, the Awards have been invigorated with a newly created category and new name to acknowledge the role design plays in achieving best heritage practice.
The ceremony date has also shifted to be the official opening for the Ballarat Heritage Weekend and will feature sneak previews of what’s on offer.
Nominations can be made online at mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au for the following categories:
Conservation of a heritage place or object
New designs in a heritage context
Excellence in heritage skills
Communicating, promoting and celebrating heritage
And the newly created:
Mayoral Award for emerging heritage and design practitioners
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Samantha McIntosh said, “The Ballarat Heritage and Design Excellence Awards celebrate the incredible quality that sets Ballarat apart from other regional cities.
“Time and again, these Awards show that the Ballarat community not only embraces our heritage but is prepared to invest in the preservation of our heritage and new design excellence.
“Our heritage is an opportunity to tell the story of our city, to link our remarkable past to our city’s exciting future.”
Nominations close 5pm on Monday 1 April, 2019. Winners will be announced at an event and awards ceremony on Friday 24 May, 2019 to open the Ballarat Heritage Weekend.
