North Ballarat, sitting in 4th place, needing a win against 5th placed, Wendouree to cement their finals position, lost the toss in very friendly batting conditions.
Wendouree was away to a relatively steady start at 3 for 89, before captain Webb popped one to short cover. This lead to a collapse that had to be seen to be believed. Wendouree losing 7 wickets for just 3 runs! In reply North have already passed the score and have the 6 points. Adam Eddy and Conor Miles the wickets takers with 5 and 4 respectively.
At Russel Square. In what is likely to be a prelude to one of the Semi Finals, East Ballarat hosted Golden Point. Golden Point skipper and now BCA leading run scorer, Josh white, made an impressive 155 not out against East Ballarat. Golden Point making 301!
Brown Hill was at home against Ballarat Redan. Batting first Brown Hill compiled 230, Jason Knowles top scoring with 89. In reply Ballarat Redan are in trouble at 3 for 20.
Top of the ladder, Mt Clear was at home up against Darley. Batting first, Mt Clear has put in place a good total with 272. Matt Ward the top scorer with 74 and bottom of the ladder Naps Sebas at home against Buninyong, were all out batting first for 85, Brad Palmer the pick of the bowlers with 5 wickets.
Melbourne Country Week kicks off today, with Ballarat facing Shepparton at Schramms Reserve (Doncaster). In Division 2, seeking to get back in the Provincial Division. Skipper Ryan Knowles, will be joined by East Ballarat’s, Harry Ganley, Naps Sebas youngster, Jonah Healy, former EJ Cleary medallist, Matt Ringin (Buninyong), Country Week veteran, Darren Fletcher (Mt Clear), Buninyong’s Harli Givvens, Ballarat Redan’s, Jayden Hayes, North Ballarat’s skipper, Leigh Lorenzen, the skipper’s brother, Brown Hill’s, Jason Knowles, the wicket keeper will be Mick Nolan from North Ballarat, youngster from Ballarat Redan making his debut, Matt Aikman, gun bat, Matt Begbie from Wendouree and from Mt Clear, Jarrod Burns, coming off his century in the lead up game.
