Ballarat Rotary Swap Meet 2019

With just over a week until the 2019 Ballarat Rotary Swap Meet pervades Airport Road, organisers are busy finalising details.
Swap Meet organiser Lindsay Florence said traders were able to set up next Thursday (February 21) with trading days on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd February.
The Swap Meet has always boasted a wide range of collectibles, used car parts and everything for car restoration and enthusiasts, and the 2019 event is no different.
It is a family friendly event and this year there will be a dedicated Kids Zone boasting Dodgem Cars, carnival rides, inflatables and other entertainments to bolster the amusements for families.
A full range of catering services will be on hand for those wishing to pursue the food options.

“Last year was quite successful,” Mr Florence said.
“If you are thinking in terms of the number of people, we had about 12,500 people through the gates over the two days, which is consistent with other years.”
Regarded as one of Australia’s largest swap meets the 2019 Ballarat Rotary Swap Meet has improved access to the event by introducing two 24 hour gate access.
One is the traditional entry in Airport Road Mitchell Park and the other is on the northern side of the site and entry via the Old Sunraysia Highway.

Proceeds from the Swap Meet have supported local community groups and charities through the local Rotary Clubs and the 2019 Swap Meet has continued that theme but has also teamed with Variety Victoria to directly support a local family who is in desperate need of a mobility Scooter for their son who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
On Saturday 23 February, in addition to the treasure trove of goods on offer, attendees can ride in style thanks to the Variety shuttle service run by Variety Bash entrants. The shuttle service will ferry attendees from the Ballarat city centre, out to the airport grounds between 9am and 11am on the Saturday morning.

Thanks to the generosity of the Ballarat Swap Meet Committee, Variety will be making a special grant presentation at midday on Saturday, to a 7-year-old William. The mobility scooter Variety are providing to William and his family will make a huge difference in their everyday lives and allow them to get out and about into the community as a family.
Variety is heavily involved in the Ballarat community and the surrounding areas and has been for many years. Many Variety Bash entrants hail from the area and fundraise in the local community, and Variety has also supported many families and organisations in the area, including facilitating the installation of a Liberty Swing at Lake Wendouree.

“The Swap meet is a great event, great for Ballarat and certainly a huge, huge experience for anyone who wants to come,” Mr Florence added.
“One of our aims through Rotary that runs the swap meet, is to improve and give community groups an opportunity to raise funds during the year, and this year we have partnered with Variety Victoria.”
