“Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus” is the motto of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
It translates to “Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon” but at the Ballarat Library on Thursday 7 February, people will be encouraged to wake up their inner Harry Potter instead.
More than 500 people are expected to take part in one of the library’s most popular summer events – the fifth annual Harry Potter Book Night.
The 2019 theme is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and all attendees are invited to dress up as their favourite Harry Potter character for a night of games, activities and quizzes.
Prizes will be awarded for competition winners and the library will also be dressed up as scenes out of the Harry Potter books.
Activities on the night will include:

 Trivia questions
 Beast Scavenger Hunt
 Magician; two classes on charms and potions
 Fashion parade
 Green Screen: have your picture taken with idyllic Harry Potter scenes
 Photo Booth: have your photo taken with an array of Harry Potter hats and costumes
 Make your own Kumihimo bracelets
 Make your own magic potion
 Make your way around a Hoop Hop circuit
 Make wands to lay spells on fellow Harry Potterians
 House Sorting: every child will be allocated a house and will be able to gain points for their house
This event will coincide with other Harry Potter themed activities occurring around the world on the same day.
