Billboard Soapbox

After transforming Ballarat’s Police Lane into a billboard – with the Draft Creative City Strategy the centrepiece, local artists Heather Horrocks and Marg Dobson, entertained a lively group of people, last Wednesday, with their billboard soapbox.
Through music and song Heather and Marg encouraged those present to add their thoughts to the billboard and they weren’t disappointed, with textas eagerly picked and opinions written down.

Both Heather and Marg were pleased with the response and said those who ventured to Police Lane on Wednesday were from a variety of arts practices.
“What they were saying was gently critical,” Heather said.
“I think there is a general feeling that people are still not quite sure that it is honed.
“It was an interesting mix of people, I thought, and Marg and I were very happy with the turnout, it was exactly what we wanted.”

The Draft Creative City Strategy and accompanying master plan are currently available to download and review from mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au
