Beaufort Turns Rainbow for Australia Day

Every Australia Day weekend, the entire town turns into a vista of “rainbow colours”. This year will be no different.
With the recent ABC TV – Back Roads feature on Beaufort all the town’s community groups have got together with the Rainbow Serpent Arts and Culture Foundation to make prayer flags and rainbow bunting to decorate the entire town.
Like many small country towns Beaufort, will soon see a by-pass. This will dramatically change the town’s dynamic but in the meantime the community, private businesses and the local council are all working together diligently to promote Beaufort’s wonderful tourism attractions to a much wider audience.

This Australia Day Weekend will be just one of the many showcase events.
The annual Rainbow Serpent Festival held just outside Beaufort in Lexton will play host to over 20,000 guests enjoying the 4 day long festival. The lifestyle festival focuses on art, music and wellbeing with internationally renowned artists attending.
On Saturday 26th at the Beaufort Pool, the Beaufort Friends of the Pool will hold its annual pool party. “Buses transport festival goers to the local Beaufort pool, to cool off and enjoy some of the wonderful country town”, says Beaufort Friends of the Pool President, Sandra Watkins.

Opposite the pool, at the old primary school oval – will be the Australia Day Market on Saturday 26th running from 9am to 4pm. Here you will find a wonderful selection of food trucks, kids entertainment, music, local arts and crafts and other fun activities. Artists from the Rainbow Serpent festival will wander around the market creating a unique experience.
In the main street, retailers and shop owners will have their stores decorated with a rainbow of colours and some of the cafés and hotels will be offering “Vegemite themed” recipes* *Vegemite – Inventor of Vegemite Cyril Callister was raised in Chute just outside Beaufort.
