Gate Keepers Cottage on Track Thanks to Rotary Club of Ballarat West

On Tuesday the Rotary Club of Ballarat West made a presentation to the Friends of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, on behalf of Garden DesignFest.
Proceeds from the 5 gardens that were on display during the 2018 Ballarat Garden DesignFest were donated for the refurbishment of the Gate Keepers Cottage.

The Gate Keepers Cottage, which has been restored to its place back in the Botanical Gardens, will be primarily used for educational purposes, especially BotaniKids, which is just one of the groups that falls under the umbrella of the Friends of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens (FOBBG).

Convener of BotaniKids, Julie Bradby, said Tuesday night’s celebration in the garden’s was a culmination of a year’s worth of organisation with the Rotary Club Of Ballarat West and the resultant Ballarat DesignFest.
“The DesignFest was highly successful and some of the proceeds from that will go towards the Gate Keepers Cottage,” she said.
“The cottage is coming along really well, it’s had the work permit approved, there has been a builder appointed and it looks like all systems go for next year.”

The Gate Keepers Cottage is just one piece of the ongoing developments in the Gardens, with works on the historic fernery predicted to begin in the new year, as well.
